The Emergency Assistance Program (EAP) began in the spring of 1999 to assist people in Bolivar County who have experienced an emergency situation resulting in difficulty in paying bills such as utilities, housing, or medical.  Food assistance is provided through the St. Gabriel Mercy Center Food Pantry and MS Food Network. 

Client’s needs are assessed by a social worker. During individual sessions instructions on money management and job awareness are given.  Networking with other agencies is done to provide further assistance.  This process results in many families’ lives being impacted.
